قطرات المطر

Did you know that raindrops fall in different sizes?

Well, if you did know, did you know why they differ in size?!

Some scientists think that when raindrops fall and hit each other, this makes them bigger or smaller.

But just this week, a group of scientists in France found a new explanation for the size of raindrops.

They filmed one individual raindrop as it fell and saw that when it falls, the raindrop changes shape as gravity pulls it down.

When it is pulled down, it becomes flat but then the air underneath it pushes it from the middle and it splits into smaller drops of water.

There could also be other reasons for the size of the raindrops such as the amount of rain and where the rainfall took place.
