Fidel Castro, former president of Cuba

Hello and welcome to BBC Xtra English!

Fidel Castro, the former president of Cuba has just launched a book called "Thoughts of Fidel Castro" in Havana, the capital city of Cuba .

The book presents the ideas and thoughts of Fidel Castro by compiling parts of his speeches and articles throughout the 49 years of his rule.

Salomon Susi Sarfati, the man who compiled the book, arranged it like a dictionary so that people can search for political terms and phrases and then find out how Fidel Castro defined them.

Many people came to the book's launch party to buy the book and the BBC correspondent in Cuba Michael Voss told us that hundreds of people crowded to buy the book in Havana, where Fidel Castro is still very popular.

Whilst the book was a sell out in Cuba, it might not be so popular in other places around the world.

This is because Fidel Castro is one of the last communist leaders and most of the worlds leaders and their people do not believe in communism.

They would probably be uninterested in the thoughts of a communist leader like Fidel Castro or find his ideas irrelevant.

Do you think communism is relevant to this day and age? Would you buy this book? Write to us in English!

Fidel Castro astoinshed many for his restless capacity for speeches that went till long hours no wonder that a dictionnary could be illestreted by only using articles and speeches of the friend of Che Guevara and The Reds.I would like to have this book as a symbol of demagoge in my collection of communism and what was known leftism.Unfortunately today Leaders rarely expose their concepts and ideas actually they stick to their secret propaganda while writing you these lines smoking a cuban cigar
Shadi Sleiman, Doha,Qatar

Well, I think the communistism or any other political party group does not mean to stop reading or present the agree ideas about any leader thoughts so it's a good opinion to read it and to seeking for political terms as you mentioned.
Hayder, Qatar

Until now I don't read the Fedil's book, but I am sure it is full of not applicable projects and advises how to live as poor persons .
It had passed more than 50 years Cuba under the rule of Fidel and his brother,I am very sorry to find all Cubian people are poor.

Saif Alkhateeb, Jedda, Saudi Arabia

I don't think that communism is relevant to this day and age. I Would buy this book! because, although it is irrelevent to our age, but it can show (by comparison) the faults and drawbacks of the other face of the story represented by the (Capitalism).
Mostafa, Egypt

before all I think that communism became an old concept and not acceptable idea by most of people and I personally uninterested in castro,s thoughts ..to be frank ..the truth is that all countries wich deals with communism have a dictatorial regimes and have no human rights
Zana, Syria

Fidel Castro has been there for a very long time, under his ruling the country was under one of the longest blockade and economic sanctions from the USA in the history not for any reason but for believing in different ideology from the time of Kennedy all the way to Obama and the country was doing fine .
Health care and education are much better in Cuba comparing with the USA I think literacy is %0 and its free education , when Hugo shaves came to power he introduce a policy called education and health care for oil at that time Cuba send 28000 doctors to Venezuela and here in Australia the very rich country we have shortage in doctors .
