جهاز أشعة جديد في المطارات يعري الركاب

Hello and welcome to BBC Xtra English!

Today Anna and Louay talk about a controversial new x-ray machine that might be used in airports all around the world.

The machine has just begun being tested in Manchester airport in the UK.

Sarah Bennett, the head of customer experience at Manchester airport says that it will be a hassle-free experience for those who participate in it.

People taking part in the test will have to stand still in front of the machine with their hands raised.

The machine will then x-ray the front and the back of the passenger, showing their body naked on the screen.

A security guard will then look at the image to see if there are any illegal items hidden in the passengers clothes.

People who support this idea say that it will help increase security at airports as well as make searching passengers easier and faster.

When the BBC spoke to people at Manchester airport, opinion was divided, with some passengers saying they don't mind being photographed by the machine if it helps security.

Other passengers disagreed and said that they felt it was an invasion of their privacy.

It is unfair that they invade our privacy by seeing us naked during airport security inspections? Can I see the security staff naked too? There are many other technologies can be used to detect hidden materials underwear. If these other fair tools are not available yet then we should invent legal instruments for security checking!
Nader Asfour, Amman, Jordan

That is not acceptable.
I think who make that hi tech, can be make another check way for illegal things
Majd, Hama, Syria

Undoubtedly, I agree with this new policy in order to enhance the security system around the world. I’ve been to many countries, and I saw many people who tried to smuggle illegal items into countries such as UK. Therefore, I think it is a great idea to do so far!
Yahya, Oman

I do refuse that to happen to me! Nobody has the right to see my naked photo or something (even if X-Rayed)
Osama, Cairo

I refused that absolutely, it is an invasion of their privacy.
Hnoy, Madina, Saudi Arabia
