تعليم الانجليزية عبر الهواتف المحمولة

Rinku

People in Bangladesh are about to get new english teaching lessons on their mobile phones.

The BBC's charity, The World Service Trust, is launching a new multi media project to teach english across the country.

As well as learning by mobile phone, the project also includes lessons on a new website and two television programmes.

The initiative called Janala, is part of a British government funded project to improve English language skills in Bangladesh.

More than 250 audio clips and SMS lessons will be made available, each one for less than the cost of a cup of tea.

It is aimed at people who have already left school or who can't afford private tuition.

Research by the BBC Trust found that more than 70 per cent of Bangladeshis want to learn English and 80 per cent think it will help them earn more money or get a better job.

Janala will also be promoted via a weekly television programme, BBC Buzz which features stories aimed at younger viewers and covers topics such as careers, politics, fashion and music.

The show also includes the English language learning exploits of a cartoon character called Rinku.

Alan Freedman from the Trust says that people nowadays like to learn English in a different way and with a mobile phone you can do so when you want to and in your own time.

Mobile handsets and connection charges are fairly cheap in Bangladesh and around 50 million phones are in use today.
