ما هي أهمية الاسرة؟

Hello and welcome to BBC Xtra English!

Today we talk about the state of families in the UK.

A questionnaire by BBC Radio 5 asked people a lot of different questions about their relationship with family members.

Questions included: how well do you get on with your relatives? And how would you cope if your in-laws came to live with you?

The findings were positive as about 80% of the people questioned said family was the most important thing that made them happy.

Regarding their in-laws, 53% of the people said that they wouldn't mind living with them in the same house.

But there was also a rather sad finding as 86% of the people who participated said that they have stopped speaking to at least one family member in the last year.

Even though a large number of people said that they would report their relatives to the police if they carried out any crimes, people still harbour some family secrets.

One person told the BBC that his uncles were arrested for fraud but their sons still carry on with this illegal activity.

How important is family to you? Would you reveal any family secrets? Write to us in English!
