Bumblebee, the bravest little Autobot in Michael Bay’s cartoon-inspired Transformers movies, gets a new look in the series’ fourth instalment.

Revealed by Michael Bay, the films’ director, on his personal website, the yellow Chevrolet Camaro concept completes the collection of the Transformers robot characters’ automotive alter-egos – a list that includes a Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse, a 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray coupe, a custom Western Star semi truck and a highly modified 1967 Camaro SS (another Bumblebee guise, apparently).

Alhough the new Bumblebee Camaros will doubtless dazzle on the big screen, it is less than likely that its squinting LED headlamps, rear brake inlets and B-pillar-mounted fuel filler accurately portray the next iteration of Chevrolet’s pony car, due to arrive as a 2016 model.

The fourth, as-yet untitled Transformers film opens on 27 June 2014.
