Best of Top Gear: The boys race across Botswana

With the countdown to Season 21 reverberating through every corner of the internet, it’s only fitting to revisit some of the moments – indeed, the episodes – that have stoked the Top Gear legend.

In this instant classic from Season 10, Jeremy, Richard and James are given their marching orders in Botswana. Each is to buy a car with no more than £1,500. No car can be fitted with all-wheel drive. If one vehicle were to break down, the driver would have to travel the remainder of the voyage in a Volkswagen Beetle – a favourite punching bag of the presenters.

The journey devolves from there in gloriously entertaining Top Gear fashion.
