  1. Official Friction Top 50 2008

As we move tenderly into 2009 looking for hope amongst war and recession, can I just give you 50 reasons to celebrate instead of commiserate?

I've spent the entire holiday period compiling my Top 50 tracks of 2008 because I always feel like I have to try and define what a year means to me - especially in music.  I started with a list of over 400 new tracks we played on the 'Friction' show and then spent an eon trying to whittle that down to 50 tracks.  Seriously - if you want to go mad in 1 easy step try doing it.  You'll end up arguing with yourself in the mirror, in your head, with your family, and it always ends up with your right side punching your left side in anger!  Anyway, once I did that I then had to rank all 50 tracks in an order of preference - that in it's self gave me sleepless nights over the New Year period - BUT I DID IT!

So here it is, warts and all - You may agree, or violently disagree - but whatever you feel there is no denying that 2008 had a badass soundtrack!

This weeks Friction Introducing artist has got lots of people in a quiver about the next generation of Asian MC Talent.  The reasons being he has the whole package.  Check the video below of 'Horizon' with his track 'Low'.  It's a great story about an artist who becomes famous and gets everything - wealth, fame, love etc - but is missing the most important thing...Happiness.

This weeks 'Friction Introducing' artist is an MC from Slough called Seminar.  Ricky Gervais may have made Slough famous for all the wrong reasons, but believe me when I say this fiery MC talent is no David Brent! (Thank God..)

  5. Friction Introducing - Sunny Kokaine

This weeks Friction Introducing artist is one for the club peeps.  His musical vision is simple - but oh so deadly!  Take sixty percent Bassline, and mix it in a bowl with forty parts Bollywood, then add a liberal sprinkling of Watford attitude and you're nearly there.

  6. Halloween / Funeral Song - Friction Mix!

At the beginning of last week I asked people who listen to the show, and people via my Face book page what song they would have played at their funeral.  I assumed lots of Desi people would cite religious poems, spiritual tracks and mellow Bollywood numbers as the song to be played as they were buried/cremated. Well - I got a shock!
