Dr Gillian Magwilde

Fiery Celt and self-styled leader of the team, Gillian has a passion for history and a hunger for the truth. Her drive can give her a sharp tongue and she makes enemies easily but for those who make it onto her team and earn her trust as a friend she's brilliant, admirable and inspiring.

Gilly's shrewd and discerning mind along with her unique archaeological imagination mean that every student wants to learn from her. A self confessed "grubby wee digger" she is far happier up to her knees in mud than attending some of the obligatory University faculty parties. Not that she doesn't turn heads in a shimmering cocktail dress; just don't look too closely at those dirty nails.

Her mum was an eminent archaeologist and now Gillian is following in her footsteps with her own brilliance propelling her into the limelight. Occasionally this is appealing but as she has discovered, public attention can be challenging and she must learn to tread carefully.
