Nothing says tradition and togetherness like hosting friends and family for a holiday dinner party. The decorations, food and camaraderie can make the season merry and bright.

But entertaining is costly. Expenses mount quickly as you add the little touches to make the event perfect — and that’s on top of rising food costs in many regions, including Europe.

There are ways to keep money worries from clouding an otherwise joyous event. Some simple adjustments, such as thinking differently about decorations, or making these swaps at the supermarket when shopping for traditional foods, can save your wallet…  and your sanity.
