Spending on make-up, diet and exercise, fragrances, skin care, hair products and cosmetic surgery adds up to a staggering $160bn per year worldwide.

South Koreans have more plastic surgery than people in any other nation per capita. One in 77 people went under the knife in 2011, according to the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons.
