During World War II and under Nazi occupation, artists in France came up with their own styles and aesthetics in rebellion against official slogans. This exhibition shows how artists reacted to – and resisted – adversity and an atmosphere of hostility towards individual expression.

Among the 100 or so artists whose work is on show are George Braque, Jean Dubuffet, Marcel Duchamp, Alberto Giacometti, Wassily Kandinsky and Pablo Picasso. Organised in collaboration with Musee d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, this is an extensive show.
