Mozart fans gather every January at the time of the composer’s birthday in Salzburg, his birthplace. Hosted by the Mozarteum Foundation, Mozart week features a programme of opera performances and orchestral, chamber and soloist concerts.
First held in 1956, the week is widely acclaimed and attracts world-renowned ensembles and Mozart interpreters. The 2014 performances will include Orfeo ed Euridice, conducted by Marc Minkowski, with countertenor Bejun Mehta partnered by Camilla Tilling as Euridice, with choruses by the Salzburg Bach Choir. There will also be three concerts by the Vienna Philharmonic. Films, round-table discussions and lectures complete the programme.
