Taking place in the Punilla Valley in Cordoba Province, this folk fest is also known as the Cosquin Nine Moons and has become the largest annual folk event in the country and the most important in Latin America. It will celebrate its 54th edition in January and February. In the 1960s and 1970s, the festival prompted a folk boom that has endured ever since.
Included in the programme is a festival of song, folk dance performances, bonfires by the river around which late-night revellers gather, and courses and workshops for children and adults. The ‘Pre Cosquin’ takes place from January 6th to 20th across Argentina, with performances by poets, street artists and a crafts fair, involving more than 150 artisans from all over the country.
