The golden boy of dramatic tenors Jonas Kaufmann stars in the title role of Jules Massenet’s adaptation of Goethe’s tragic romance, singing opposite Sophie Koche as Charlotte. The production is directed and designed by Richard Eyre and Rob Howell, who together created the Met’s recent production of Carmen, a big hit. The conductor is the rising young maestro Alain Altinoglu. After Chicago, Kaufmann then heads for Europe on March 28 where he will be on tour until the beginning of August.
