Italian coloratura mezzo-soprano Cecilia Bartoli is acclaimed for her Mozart and Rossini performances as well as her interpretations of more obscure Baroque music. One of opera’s top-selling stars and the world’s most successful mezzo, she is known for her unusual timbre.
She was born in Rome, the daughter of two singers, who both coached her as a child. Now in her forties, Bartoli has maintained both her longevity and integrity - she has curated the Whitsun Salzburg Festival and has a close relationship with the opera house at Zurich, where she lives. In April, she performs in France, in June proceeds to Austria for the Salzburg Festival, then in August to Germany.
