Hiraki Sawa lives between London and Japan, and so it’s perhaps no surprise that travel and dislocation are big themes in his work. His video pieces reflect on time, motion and mobility and have recently expanded to include intricate multi-screened installations.

O 2009, for instance, is a video-and-sound installation that reflects on the cycle of time, featuring imagery of the moon’s surface, the interior of an abandoned house and Australian landscapes. The soundtrack is by Dale Berning.
