American sculptor Jedd Novatt is well known for his welded and painted steel sculptures – often in cube-like forms – as well as his black-and-white collages. Playing with scale and seemingly defying gravity, his sculptures challenge expectations. The artist says: “The form I focus on most is the inverse of the material of the work: the space that surrounds it, which I imagine as solid. The creation of this negative space is part of the work.”
