Curated by Ranjit Hoskote, Unpacking the Studio showcases for the first time the bequest of Jehangir Sabavala, who died in 2011. A celebrated painter of landscapes, Sabavala was born in Bombay (now Mumbai) in 1922. He studied art in Mumbai, then London and Paris. The grand Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya (CSMVS) was formerly known as the Prince of Wales Museum of Western India, and is an example of the Indo-Saracenic style of architecture.
