Contemporary Minoans is a two-day cultural event, on 11 to 12 May, that showcases the Minoan civilisation and explores its influence on global contemporary design. The second day of the event is hosted by the archaeological Museum of Heraklion, and workshops sharing ancient craft techniques will be featured along with contemporary exhibits. Among those featured is work by award-winning  fashion-and-jewellery designer Sophia Kokosalaki, who created the costumes for the opening-and-closing ceremonies if the Athens Olympic Games, including the iconic dress worn by singer Bjork.
