Great Gatsby premiere: Will it be a commercial hit?

The Great Gatsby opens in US cinemas at a time when moviegoers expect action blockbusters. Will the much-hyped film be a commercial hit? Tom Brook reports from the film’s premiere in New York.

Even with big name stars, period dramas can struggle at the box office. To have genuine hit status, The Great Gatsby will have to reach a broad swath of moviegoers including young people and large audiences outside the US.

Tom Brook speaks to Baz Luhrman, Carey Mulligan and Amitabh Bachchan to assess its chances.
