New documentary tells the story of drummer Ginger Baker

Ginger Baker hit the big time in supergroup Cream, whose first album was released in 1966. As a drummer he was in a class of his own – but his collaborators say he isn’t easy to get along with.

The music documentary Beware of Mr Baker tells his story. Writer and director Jay Bulger travelled to South Africa to meet the rock legend – and developed a friendship with him, despite clashes and altercations.

The film relies on a rich selection of interviewees and strong archive footage, featuring Eric Clapton and Johnny Rotten.

Tom Brook meets Jay  Bulger to find out what it’s like to make a documentary about a colourful and volatile personality.
