After Earth: Is the director on shaky ground?

M Night Shyamalan’s new film, After Earth has opened to poor reviews. Tom Brook talks with its star, Will Smith and discusses media criticism with the director.

Taking place a thousand years in the future, After Earth tells the story of a military veteran and his son, played by father and son acting duo, Will and Jaden Smith.

The planet in After Earth has become hostile to humans – with plenty of aggressive animals ready to attack. The film tells the story of a son finding his strength, proving himself and gaining parental acceptance.

After Earth has recently opened in the US with a disappointing reception from both critics and audiences.
