Films to look forward to in 2014

Talking Movies’ Tom Brook picks the movies to see this year, including a portrayal of an iconic Disney villain, a biblical epic and a futuristic Western.

Want to know what to catch at the cinema in 2014? World cinema, dark fantasy and films based on real-life events have all made it into Talking Movies’ picks.

Highlights among the many documentaries that will be released this year include Matt Wolf’s Teenage – the story of the teenager told through an inventive use of archive footage – and Your Day is My Night, which shines a light on a little-documented sub-culture in New York’s Chinatown.

Elsewhere, Angelina Jolie can be seen playing one of Disney’s most memorable villains in Maleficent; a big Bollywood release will be Anurag Kashyap’s Bombay Velvet, and Russell Crowe appears in Darren Aronfosky’s epic story of Noah.
