An international festival of “advanced music and new media art”, Sonar was first created in 1994 and held in Barcelona every June. Since 2002 the event has been spreading its wings to other cities around the world, including Buenos Aires, New York, Montreal, Tokyo, London and Hamburg. Sonar Reykjavik is an intimate affair in comparison to the main Barcelona event, with four stages and a total capacity of 3,500 guests. The Harpa concert hall is the main venue, and its underground car park will be transformed into a nightclub. There will be 15 international acts and around 30 Icelandic artists.
