Bailey’s new retrospective is heavy on glamour.

The model Jerry Hall turned out for the private view of David Bailey’s new retrospective at London’s National Portrait Gallery – and here she is in 1983, her foot held by fashion photographer Helmut Newton. The image – shot in Cannes, France – is one of more than 250 taken by the British photographer that will be shown at Bailey’s Stardust when it opens on 6 February. Documenting a career that spans more than five decades, the photographs have been selected and arranged by Bailey – and cover travel and sculpture as well as fashion.
