Recycling rubbish to create electricity in Denmark

Denmark currently generates 831kg of waste per person every year. But rather than dump it in landfill, they have found a way to deal with the problem - burning it.

While incineration may not seem a particularly environmentally friendly way of getting rid of waste, the Danes have turned it to their advantage by using it to generate electricity.

Experts suggest that one bag of rubbish, when burnt, generates enough power to supply the average home with three and a half hours of electricity.
