Harnessing the power of the wave

With supplies of natural resources diminishing, the race to develop more sustainable forms of energy is hotting up.

The ocean – which covers 70% of the earth’s surface – offers plenty of potential.

For example, it is estimated that 10% of Europe’s wave power could be produced off the coast of Scotland.

But companies developing wave and tidal energy technology need to research and test their products before dropping them in the sea.

Adam Shaw visits a research testing facility in Edinburgh, where they hope to harness the power of the wave.
