Food waste: An unpalatable problem

Throughout the food supply chain, around 1.3 billion tonnes is wasted annually – enough to feed 3 billion people.

While Italy isn't the worst when it comes to food wastage, it still throws away more than 30% of its edible food, amounting to over $50 million a year.

Adam Shaw takes a look at attempts to tackle the problem.
