The buildings in our cities could quite literally come alive in the decades ahead. Spencer Kelly looks at the people merging biology with traditional architecture to develop buildings that moderate temperature, and green roofs and walls that are teeming with natural life.
But we have barely scratched the surface of what is possible. One day we could see chairs that know who is sitting on them so they can become more comfortable, and buildings changing their own lighting without human intervention.
