Sir Kenneth Grange could rightfully claim to be Britain’s greatest living designer – a man whose creations have been used by millions going about their daily lives.
The 83-year-old created the sleek Intercity 125 trains for British Rail, designed one of Kodak’s snap-happy Instamatic cameras, and transformed razors for Wilkinson Sword. He was also one of a handful of designers who reimagined the famous Anglepoise lamps in the 1990s.
Sir Kenneth spoke to Stephen Dowling at the press launch for the Design Museum’s exhibition Extraordinary Stories About Ordinary Things – and names one object he thinks is ripe for reinvention.
