Subconscious cinema: Movies that change with your mood

Ever been disappointed by a film’s ending? New research may be able to change a movie’s outcome based on the subconscious desires of the people watching it.

Upset that your favourite character in the blockbuster you saw on the weekend died in the final reel? Or annoyed at that all-too-happy romantic ending?

Researchers are developing technology that can change the outcome of films - based on the subconscious cues of the audience.

Could it spell the end for that familiar sense of disappointment we get when the credits roll?

Click's LJ Rich tried out the system, which measures heart rate, brain waves, muscle tension and even perspiration in audience members before deciding which scene should play next.
