Babban bankin duniya ya zabi dan Amurka Jim Yong Kim a matsayin sabon shugaban bankin inda ya doke ministar kudin Najeriya Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.

A karon farko a tarihi, an kalubalantar mamayar da Amurka ta yi wa bankin na duniya - inda kawunan masu zaben ya rabu.

Mr Kim ya samu goyon bayan kasashen Turai da Japan da Canada da kuma wasu kasashe masu tasowa kamarsu Rasha da Mexico da Koriya ta Kudu.

Kim wanda shi ne shugaban Dartmouth College, zai fara aiki a ranar 1 ga watan Yuli.

A ranar Juma'a ne dan kasar Colombia Jose Antonio Ocampo ya janye daga takarar yana mai cewa "siyasa ce kawai a cikin lamarin".

Dr Kim zai maye gurbin Robert Zoellick, wanda ya jagoranci bankin tun shekara ta 2007.
