This site is dedicated to bringing history to life, for the casual browser and the complete enthusiast. There are nearly 10,000 pages for you to explore, and new content is added all the time.

Topics section on the navigation menu
TOPICS embraces all the key historical themes and events that are covered in-depth on the site. They are arranged into four chronologically-ordered sections:

Ancient History
British History
World Wars
Recent History

For example, if you're looking for something on Operation Overlord, you will find it in
Topics > World Wars > World War Two.

Resources section on the navigation menu
RESOURCES are supplementary ways of getting into Topics.

For example, you could choose to just see all the Games available in Topics by going to Resources > Interactive Content > Games.

Practical History section on the navigation menu
PRACTICAL HISTORY shows you how to get involved with actually doing some history. This could mean researching your Family History, trying your hand at Archaeology or improving your skills with a structured History Trails online course.

It consists of a one-line summary to give you a 'flavour' of the subject, and an 'overview' article that outlines what the subject covers.* In this case, 'Empire and Sea Power' covers the battles of Trafalgar and Waterloo, but also key themes like Britain's rise as a world power and social reforms like the abolition of slavery.
