Simon Schama is University Professor in Art History and History at Columbia University in New York.
Educated at Christ's College, Cambridge, he went on to be a Fellow at Christ's from 1966 - 1976. He moved as Fellow and Tutor in Modern History to Brasenose College, Oxford, and was then based at Harvard from 1980 - 1993.
He is internationally acclaimed for his best-selling books which include 'Citizens' (1989), 'Landscape and Memory' (1995) and 'Rembrandt's Eyes' (1999).
