About the author

David Welch is Professor of Modern History, and Director of the Centre for the Study of Propaganda, at the University of Kent, Canterbury. His publications include Hitler, Profile of a Dictator (Routledge, 2001), The Third Reich, Politics and Propaganda (Routledge, 2002) and Propaganda and the German Cinema, 1933-45 (IB Tauris, 2002). He is the editor of the forthcoming Encyclopaedia of Propaganda (ABC-Clio, June 2003) and The Management of Perception: Propaganda, the Media and Warfare, 1900-2002 (IB Tauris, 2003), and is currently working on a history of propaganda in the twentieth century.
