US Congress to continue electronic surveillance

The United States House of Representatives has narrowly voted to continue an electronic surveillance programme that was recently exposed by the fugitive intelligence analyst Edward Snowden.

With a majority of twelve votes, the House rejected an amendment to a bill that would have limited the National Security Agency's ability to collect the phone records of hundreds of millions of Americans.

The amendment had been strongly opposed by the White House, which argued it would deprive intelligence agencies of an important tool in preventing terror attacks.

Kongres AS teruskan pengawasan elektronik
