BorstalBBC Introducing checks out the music of Borstal, part of Liverpool’s underground hip-hop scene. The pair have created quite a buzz by working hard to develop their production skills. Formed in the summer of 2001 by Daniel O'Donnell and William Clark, hip-hop group Borstal burst onto the Liverpool underground scene with plenty of original material and a lot of enthusiasm. Although their material was all original, they agree that during the early days, it was all recorded on basic equipment. Over a period of time, Borstal got to grips with more advanced technology, improving their engineering and recording techniques. The duo began to enter any competition that they could find. They felt it was just a matter of time before somebody would pick up on their unique style and experimental sound. Help playing audio/video Borstal quickly gained favour with independent radio stations broadcasting on the internet and became an underground hit with their anti-bullying anthem ‘Help Me’.With their reputation growing, the two young musicians took a step back to improve their material and continue to develop. Today, Borstal are recording and performing non-stop. With a forthcoming album, Plan B, in the works, and their new track ‘Come And Get Me’ creating quite a buzz, Borstal look set to be better then they ever imagined they could be.
