Derry pensioner guilty of indecent exposure
A pensioner from Londonderry has pleaded guilty to three charges of gross indecency against a young girl.
William Roddy, 71, from Queen Street, committed the offences in his bedroom over a three-year period, starting in August 2005 when the girl was 12.
Londonderry Crown Court heard that he exposed himself to the girl, but there had not been any physical contact.
Roddy was put on probation for three years and on the sex offenders register for seven.
In 1960, Plymouth Magistrates Court fined him £2 when he was convicted of indecently exposing himself.
He is now on medication to reduce his libido.
Judge Desmond Marrinan said Roddy had "bizarre and concerning fantasies", but that in sentencing him, he had tempered "justice with mercy".
