Extra police patrols have been drafted into the Gorbals area of Glasgow after two girls were indecently attacked in a play park.

The man approached the nine-year-old girls in Gorbals New Park on Southside Crescent at about 1715 BST on Saturday.

Strathclyde Police said he chatted to them before assaulting them.

The suspect, who was described as bearded with dark skin and wearing a round skull cap, ran off towards Cathcart Road at Laurieston Road.

Det Sgt Nicola Burnet said: "This was obviously very distressing for the girls and indeed for their families.

"We want to trace this man as a matter of urgency.

"It is possible that he was hanging around the park for some time during the day so were are keen to hear from anyone who saw him or recognises his description."
