Man dies after being hit by lorry in Rutherglen

A 84-year-old man has died after being knocked down by a lorry in Rutherglen in South Lanarkshire, on Friday.

Joseph Green, from Toryglen, died after the collision on Main Street, near the junction with Queen Street, at about 1445 BST.

A statement released by Strathclyde Police said the man had died at the scene.

Sgt Andy King, from the force's road policing department, appealed for any witnesses to get in touch.
