Man dies after being hit by car in Aberdeen

A man has died after being hit by a car in Aberdeen.

The accident happened on the southbound carriageway of the A956 Wellington Road, Aberdeen, near the unclassified road leading to Cove, at about 1310 BST on Friday.

A spokesman for Grampian Police said the man was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary but later died as a result of his injuries.

The road was closed for six hours for accident investigations to take place.

Sgt Neil Morrison said: "At present, our inquiries are still at an early stage and I would urge anyone who may have either witnessed the collision or who has information regarding it to contact us as soon as possible."

Earlier on Friday, a woman in her 70s was injured after being hit by a car on Great Northern Road, near its junction with Don Street, in Woodside.
