Pedestrian seriously injured in Plymouth road collision

A Devon woman has been taken to hospital after a collision in Plymouth city centre.

The woman sustained serious injuries when she was hit by a Peugeot car on Laira Bridge just before 1000 BST.

It is believed the woman was watching runners competing in the city's half marathon when she was hit.

She was taken to Derriford Hospital where her condition is serious. Devon and Cornwall Police said the driver of the Peugeot was shocked, but uninjured.
