Investigation after man shot dead in south London

A man has died after being shot in south London.

Emergency services were called to Howson Road in Lewisham at 0203 BST to reports of a man lying injured in the street. The man, believed to be 23, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim has not yet been formally identified and police are yet to trace next of kin. No arrests have been made.

A post-mortem examination was due to take place on Sunday afternoon at Greenwich Mortuary.

Operation Trident, which investigates crime within the capital's black community, is dealing with the case.
