Police name man, 83, in Lichfield collision

An elderly man who died in a collision in Staffordshire has been named.

Jack Edwards, 83, from Bentley Lane, Walsall, and his wife were at a bus stop in Lichfield on Friday waiting for their bus home, police said.

A woman who was held after a black Ford Fiesta struck him in Beacon Street on Friday has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving.

The woman, 54, was charged with failing to provide a breath specimen and is due at Tamworth Magistrates' Court later.

Mr Edwards had been married to Elsie for 61 years, police said.

In a statement released by the Staffordshire force, Mrs Edwards said: "Jack was the love of my life and my greatest friend for over 60 years.

"He loved to be out in the fresh air, and walking was one of his loves. He will be sadly missed by me and all his family."
