Probe into death of man found hurt in Doncaster street

Detectives have started a murder inquiry into the death of a man found lying injured in a street in Doncaster.

John Lockwood, 45, suffered a serious assault and was found with head and internal injuries on Lauder Road at about 0700 BST on Monday.

He was taken to Doncaster Royal Infirmary where he later died.

Police said Mr Lockwood had been making his way home from Limbreck Court in Bentley in the early hours and have appealed for witnesses.
