Motorcyclist dies in A957 road crash in Aberdeenshire

A motorcyclist has been killed in a collision with a car in Aberdeenshire.

The man, who was from Aberdeen and in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident on the A957 at Rickarton near Stonehaven on Wednesday at about 2015 BST.

The driver of the silver Vauxhall Astra, a 50-year-old woman from Tayside, was unhurt.

Grampian Police want to hear from witnesses who may have seen the bike, a black and orange KTM, before the crash.

The road was closed for several hours to allow accident investigators to examine the scene.

Earlier this year Grampian Police launched a summer-long safety campaign called Operation Zenith, aiming to cut the number of motorcyclists killed and seriously injured on north east roads.
