Man's body recovered from River Hull

A police investigation is under way after a man's body was recovered from the River Hull.

Emergency services were contacted shortly before 0500 BST on Thursday after the body was spotted in the river close to the city's Tower Street.

The fire brigade and coastguard helped recover the man. The area has been cordoned off while inquiries are carried out.

Police said the man's body had been taken away for examination.

A spokesman said officers did not believe the man's death was suspicious but they were trying to establish the circumstances leading up to his death.
