Man's body found after Newmarket flat fire

A man has died in a fire in Newmarket in Suffolk.

Crews from Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service were called to a flat in Exeter Road just after 1400 BST.

At its height, 20 firefighters battled the blaze. The man's body was found in the bathroom of the first-floor flat. He has not yet been named.

A Suffolk Fire Service spokesman said an investigation into the cause of the fire had begun and officers were keeping an open mind.
