World Cup boosts JD Sports sales
Retailer JD Sports says its recent sales have been boosted by the build up to the World Cup in South Africa.
In the 18 weeks from 31 January to 5 June, like-for-like sales rose 4.1%, the sportswear firm said.
That was up from the 2% increase reported after the first 10 weeks of the period.
Sports store sales growth accelerated to 5.1% from 3%, while fashion store sales were down 1.2%, improving from a 3.5% decline.
The company added that profit margins had been "encouraging".
